The symposium addresses how Christians respond to persecution and how the rest of the world can exercise solidarity with them, with the aim to issue concrete action plans with recommendations formulated at the conference.

The program features internationally prominent speakers on religious freedom and leading scholars on global Christianity, including Chad Bauman, Kathleen Collins, Thomas Farr and Brian Grim.

The symposium will also release the report “In Response to Persecution” from Under Caesar’s Sword, a three-year collaborative global research project of the University of Notre Dame that investigates how Christian communities respond when their religious freedom is severely violated.

The symposium is hosted by the Under Caesar's Sword project, the Religious Freedom Institute and the Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame, in collaboration with Aid to the Church in Need. Co-sponsoring the event are the Program on Church, State & Society at the University of Notre Dame, the Institute for Studies of Religion at Baylor University, In Defense of Christians, and the Institute for Global Engagement.
